Though Ralph Waldo Emerson was not referring to the loss of something immense as the best reliable craft brew created, yet his quote still rings true in this case. The Avery Brewing Company out of Boulder, Co is one the true original craft breweries around. They survived the last craft beer crash and continue to grow and flourish amongst new competition.

Avery’s line of amazing brews range from there “Demons of Brew” styles which are intense, high ABV cellerable ales to their year round  “old faithful” style brews, which many craft beer drinkers have grown to love and enjoy.  The brew in question here is the recently discontinued, amazing Red Point amber ale. A medium bodied, caramel amber, which has been the company’s staple brew since day one.

 It’s as if they took old yeller  out to the shed and shot him in front of all of us. Even though instead of a faithful canine companion it’s an amber brew. Now with this in mind Avery has grown by leaps and bounds and has concocted many new delicious brews such as, Karma, Brabant and Dugana. The company has never been more popular in the craft beer world and the brand is looked upon as a huge success story for American Craft beer movement. All this aside maybe one day they will do a special release of Red Point, an oaked aged version, or release the recipe to the masses.

Until then, for all of you who have a hidden sixer of RP, for all us who remember the taste and for those who have never heard of this delicious brew remember that nothing is permanent in life, and things come and go like dust in the wind… Cheers to you and for a better tomorrow.
